Although not an expected topic for healthy living, Baxter’s outing is, indeed, an exercise in living life as it should be: uninhibited by social norms and stereotypes.

I wrote a novel about a woman coming out late-in-life called Seeking Sara Summers. For these women it isn't about getting their 15 minutes of fame (a criticism of Meredith Baxter on another site), it's about getting a life. I think it takes a tremendous amount of courage to simply be who you are.
Agreed. Baxter was visibly nervous about the entire process of coming out on national TV, and it sure didn't seem like much of an act to me. And she seemed better about it by the end of the interview, as I'm sure she felt relief that it was over and out there for good. I hope she does feel a sense of freedom now.
